We work closely with Tier 1 Contractors on  National Highway projects to help keep people working in close proximity to mobile plant safe whilst upgrading roads and motorways across the UK.

Through the ‘Raising the bar’ initiative, we've worked collaboratively with supply chain partners and National Highways to adopt our proximity warning systems on a number of sites.

Raising the bar section 3 covers people plant interface giving a detailed review of our proximity warning sensors and how they've been used to support safe working practices when people are working closely with mobile plant on highways.

Recently we've been working with Costain and Flannery's Plant Hire to support 'Costain's Zero-Harm culture' and we were recognised for our work being shortlisted at the 2022 National Highways Award in the 'Exceptional contribution to workforce safety' category.

"People Plant Interface is one of the top fatal risks identifiers in the construction industry. This smart technology is pure safety, it makes certain that performing certain tasks in close proximity to a machine cause zero harm.”

Alistair Melville | Costain Project Manager

How SiteZone can be used on Highways

People Plant Interface

SiteZone is the UK's leading plant to pedestrian interface system and is proven to reduce the risk of collisions.

Ideal for the Highways and Smart Motorway projects, the systems are available to hire and the EasyFit proximity warning system can be installed within 60 minutes, making it quick and simple to move from one vehicle to another.

SmartBubble

SmartBubble works with existing industry standards and site protocol used on Highways, including Thumbs up and RedZone.

When the machine is in a safe state (stationary or deadman's handle engaged), SmartBubble automatically reduces the size of the exclusion zone. SmartBubble is supplied as standard on all excavator proximity warning systems.

Oversite - using data to change behaviour

Gain unique safety insights by remotely monitoring interactions between vehicles and people across multiple locations.

Our data-driven approach takes proximity warning to the next level and can be used to change behaviours and make changes to improve safety on-site.
